Why Instagram is the preferred social media platform for most businesses?

Hello everyone,

Mr Mark Ford here, hope you are doing fantastic today. Hmm, a hot topic and I’m sure you’re really keen to find out why even if this is just an article coming from my perspective, but I’m pleased to say that I’m not the only one telling people why Instagram is the preferred social media platform for most businesses.

Okay, let’s get straight to business. I have a lot to cover. Instagram is becoming or already has become the preferred social media platform for most businesses because it’s the new Facebook. Let’s take a look at what I mean. Now, in yesterday’s article, if you’ve read it, you will have seen the statistics on the number of users there are on each social media platform. If you haven’t had a chance to read yesterday’s article, then you can take a look at it on this link https://yourblogcontent.com/pros-and-cons-of-having-too-many-social-media-platforms/

Now, you already know that Instagram has 1 billion users a month. Instagram is so easy to use and has so many features with more features being added to it. Instagram is all about visuals and even videos these days.  Take a look at this https://www.dreamgrow.com/top-15-most-popular-social-networking-sites/ Facebook is number one, YouTube is number two and Instagram is number three from the most used platforms in the world.

Instagram is the app that a lot of people were waiting for. You remember the time you went travelling, and you took photos? You then uploaded it onto your computer and then loaded it onto Facebook, now you can do it instantly on your mobile. What travellers really missed was showing their families back home their adventures in real-time. Now we have Facebook live, and we can upload videos onto Instagram and tell stories.

41% of Instagram users are 24 years old or under in the US, and if you think about it, Generation Z has been born with the Internet, and so will all generations to come. The older generation has to keep up with the times because businesses no longer rely on the market supporting their physical business on the street, you might just get a competitor the next day, and you might just have another economic crisis. Companies don’t want to spread themselves thin anymore and want the big piece of the pie which is online where crowds hang out in groups and if majority of the groups are using Instagram then that is where businesses want to go and market.

98% of fashion brands have an Instagram account because this is where e-commerce brands find their customers. The best thing about Instagram is that you get the highest average engagement per post compared to other social media networks. Instagram allows you to show the awesomeness of your brand. Over 80% of Instagram users follow at least one business account, and 60% of Instagram users follow the platform daily.

Instagram is the preferred social media platform for most businesses because marketing is affordable, and with the use of hashtags, you can still have a high level of engagement doing unpaid advertising. Instagram gives you value for what you’re paying in terms of marketing, giving you brand awareness and engagement quickly and easily. Setting a marketing campaign by demographics and finding your market is easy to set up.

According to eMarketer, 84.9% of people use their mobile device to access apps, and as off November 2017, 101 042 000 mobile users accessed Instagram. People are tired of being sold to, and engagement is made from stories; emotional, visual and written content.

Businesses use Instagram because it’s easy to set up a campaign, it’s cheap, it has higher engagement rates, has a huge amount of brand awareness, easy to link campaigns to e-commerce sites, find where your market is hanging out through the metrics provided by Instagram when setting up a campaign; through interests, age and country.

Here is T. Dench Patel, the author of The South African: True Colours, The South African: Roamer and Light’s opinion on why Instagram is the preferred social media platform for her book business.

“I stuck with Instagram after using various marketing methods. I used YouTube, Facebook, Amazon’s marketing services and Twitter. At first, I had no idea what I was doing, and then I observed, researched and calculated where I was getting value for money depending on what the end goal was. YouTube was interesting. I paid a lot to get 75 000 views on my first book trailer, and if I’d known then that the same amount of money spent would have gotten me four times more views with leftover change on Instagram, I would have gone for it. It took a lot of trial and errors to come to stick with Instagram. Also, my market Generation Z, Millennials (Gen Y), and Gen X are mostly on Instagram and a few Baby Boomers who are interested in the history of South Africa. The fact is that setting up campaigns according to demographics and having my budget clear from the beginning made Instagram a choice that I didn’t regret.”

If you are not familiar with Russell Brunson, then let me tell you a little about him. He is a founder of a software company, an author and helps millions of entrepreneurs. You can take a look at his full profile here http://www.russellbrunson.com/hi

Another good reason why Instagram is the preferred social media platform for most businesses is that Instagram has a bit of the best parts of Twitter, Snapchat, Facebook all in one and can also be linked to your feeds on other social media platforms. The best part of Instagram is that your posts can reach a broad target audience organically even if you have no marketing budget.

Hope this perspective helps you decide on the most suitable marketing platform for your business and blogging now that you have the statistics and what others using Instagram has to say about their experience and choices from all the social media platforms that one can have access to.
